What happens when I have an International return?

Posted on 2023-04-18 Updated on 2023-08-25

For international returns, USPS shipments are eligible for return service. If a shipment is undeliverable or refused, it will be sent back to the original sender using the return address on the label. However, to manage USPS international returns, you must have submitted a Power of Attorney (POA) document. As the package passes through numerous customs checkpoints and carriers, transit times can range from a few weeks to several months.

For shipments sent with Asendia and ShipShop International Tracked postage, return service is not included. In the event of an undeliverable package, it will be disposed of and not returned to the sender. If the package is unclaimed, the tracking will update to show its return to the partner carrier, after which it will be disposed of. As such, ShipShop Protection Insurance claims cannot be filed for shipments marked as return to sender.

To ensure that all return shipments can be associated with a ShipShop account, it is important to communicate your return policy and the risks associated with incorrect delivery addresses or unclaimed packages to your customers. To ensure your ability to retrieve the items, we strongly recommend selecting USPS First Class Package International or USPS Priority Mail International postage types.
